Flavoured bits

thinking about buying one of these for rosie.

She is ok with the bit but don't feel she is as excepting of it as she could be (she is currently ridden in an eggbutt snaffle)  when she gets fed up doing something, tired or too hot she holds the bit in her teeth(isn't majorly bad does it maybe once or twice  month but is frightening when on the roads nd she is fighting not to stop at a junction!) I am planning once foal is weaned to send her away to get properly schooled and I will then get lessons on her but wondered if using a flavoured bit that she can play with might also help

what do you think?  Would you recommend a particular type?

Re: Flavoured bits

I personally would use a roller bit, something that she get hold of as the rollers wouldnt allow her to get a good grip on the bit. Flavoured bits are good but they are more for getting the horse to mouth the bit and relax the jaw, as well as producing more silva.

I would use this on her http://www.derbyhouse.co.uk/prodshow.asp?id=1922&cat=2&scats=50,14 the copper rollers would provide a nicer taste than the stainless steel as well.

sorry if im not much help

when a horse poo's make sure your not picking out its back feet!
