Ahhh he's doing it again... :( !

As most of you know we sorted out Hilton's loading problem. Well, today I was meant to have a lesson-was supposed go just like normal.

Warning-this is going to be a long one as I need to vent :P sorry guys.

There was a guy next door shooting a pistol or something similar whilst I had him on a lead rope ready to load him(mum was preparing the trailer) and the noise spooked Hilton. I took him away and five mins later went to load him.

He usually takes five mins to load as he's quite stubborn but when he decides he's ready he just walks straight on. Well this gun went off again and he heard it, spooked and hit his head. He now has a graze and a slight cut where his browband would go, he was shocked and went a bit dosey but didnt get worried.

SO we decided even if we didnt make it to the lesson we would have to load him otherwise he'd be totally put off.

Anyway, i then over 2 hours trying to gently coax him into the trailer, trying all food items and encouragement he just stood there and basically went to sleep.

When i decided enough was enough and began to give him a gentle tug on the lead rein he wasnt having any of it and started doing small rears.

SO after more agro i decided to get him off and load him in a different place (in the paddock facing towards the stables).

Well he was ok for a bit (i'd swapped the lead rein for a lunge line so if he reared I could give without letting go)

But he proceeded to rear and then gallop off (dragging me through the paddock until I had to let go as I was receiving rope burns :S.

He lost a shoe in the process and panicked until we showed him mit at which point I grabbed him. Tried twice more and the same thing happened (even with me taking all partitions out).

In the end I decided enough was enough and after 3 and a half hours his dangerous behaviour got me thinking it just wasn't worth it.

He's never scared or anything, just refuses to go forward-and if you ask anything of him he rears in protest. He doses-It's infuriating!

So now all the hard work I put in loading and reloading is down the drain and I have a horse which knows how to show us he means business to the point where he doesn't care if he kicks you or lands on you. As i'm totally against any violence this is a tough one.

I'm thinking it's time to call in the experts?

Sorry for the rant.Needed to get that one out .

xx RIP Fenny- You gave me so much happiness and so many great memories xx

Yeah i think so help would be good, its so stressful when they wont load, and you everything you can to do it. Esp if you put in so much time to get them schooled and turned out to the point when you want to go and about.

Hope you find someone who can help

awesome :) yeah will do. Tomorrow the plan is to put the trailer at the entrance to his stable and take his haynets away. If he wants breakfast or turnout he will have to go in.

If that fails I will admit defeat and call someone in :P x

Yepp, good thing dad will be here to move the trailer in a minute. :) mum isn't that great at reversing and it's quite awkard to do it_not that we've ever done it before so it may go horribly wrong.Fingers crossed.

Haha i know what you mean, I was so mad at him yesterday. If he was scared i'd understand but he's just plain awkward and stubborn. But although he didnt get tea or any treats as punishment I had to give him a cuddle, if only they weren't so cute  and cuddly :P He should be hungry enough as with no tea last night and just haynets he will be desperate for his breakie. x

Call in Michael Peace. He'll sort it out ; )

May your haynet always be full. Life is not measured by how many breaths you take, but by the number of times that take your breath away!

Yay! After much time morning and night loading him. He's ok at the moment. I've got a lesson at 1 so will see what he's like to load to come home then :P Hopefully he'll be like he was this morning and just walk on without dissagreement.

He had a sedative yesterday as he got angry when the vet was rasping his teeth and he was so funny. Had his tongue hanging out and his head lowered all afternoon. Bless him, he seems exceptionally chilled today :) x
