omg I can't get the image out of my head now and I only managed  the first horse how horrible who in their right mind would do a job like that and go home probably to a family with pets!! they are sick and so are the people who run these kind of places they should be found and shut down.

 it isnt nice as ive commented before but think of what else could happen to these 'unwanted' horse....Amersham case all over again?

the people doing it arent sick or twisted, theyre doing a job just the same as anyone else; someone carrying out a postmortem, are they sick and wrong? 

why should horses be the exception? why is it we can cope with healthy beautiful cows going to the slaughter house to get the same treatment but a pony having it done is just disturbing. 

there is a positive and that is these horses in the UK dont have to travel miles and miles to be slaughtered thats what i disagree with! 

if slaughter is carried out as humanely as possible then i cant see a problem, id rather a horse be shot than neglected!

I got to 1.48 and was already in tears, I am stunned that animals are still treated like this in this day and age

That is the cruelest thing I have ever seen... I CANNOT watch any more of it... This is a disgusting display of a human being - it's not even a humane death. That poor, poor horse. You're right, sad isn't even the word, there's nothing to describe this horror :-(

There is a difference between an animal bred to produce meat and one that no longer has a use to it's family. If you believe that God put animals on this Earth, as many do(me included) then you'll know that God said only that man would have power over the animals, he did not order their deaths in order for humans to survive. From a vegetarian point of view of course. It would be like a world leader deciding that because they had the ultimate authority they could eat the rest of us! I'd put up a pretty strong argument for there being a difference in what animals are killed to eat.  Horses never were, and never should be, classed as animals bred for meat. It is only in recent thousands of years that it has become custom in some countries. Cows and other such livestock - have always been used to provide for us.

I know of course it's a very sensitive matter so I won't disgrace anyone else's opinion - because that's all it will ever be I'm afraid, an opinion...

 The video says it was taken in the U.S and the Humane Farming Association is an American society.

America does slaughter a huge amount of horses each year, mostly for the meat market - that's why they can't use the lethal injection. I don't understand why they can't use a bolt gun like the UK slaughterhouses though.

If you go on websites such as Yahoo Answers you can normally find questions about the American horse slaughter trade. That's why people are so against "back yard breeding" out there - because they understand that a lot of roughbred youngsters will end up being sold as meat at some point in their life.

Sad but true :(
