Trailers

I just want to know if any of you use a Rice trailer to travel your horses over fairly long journeys. Sy is fine locally but am wanting to go 2hours away and I wonder if the Rice trailer is comfy enough for this type of use. Would love to have a more luxury trailer but cant afford it!!!

Re: Trailers

my first trailer was a rice got it for free but didnt have a floor and was a right rust bucket. me and my mum spent many a weekend sanding, painting, fixing etc and it turned out to be a lovely box, although it was heavy, but as our horse was a bad traveler we had a full height wooden partition and she had planty of room it was made for 2x18hh so my little 14.2hh fitted purfectly.

It was fine for long distances although i think this depends mainly on what type 4x4 you are going to pull with. a part time 4x4 or a smaller such as a rav4 would havent a hope in hell in pulling it up hills. so as long the towing vechile is strong and you drive steady then the horse should travel well. make sure you plan your route and leave early in the morning to miss traffic. when we towed my horse from the midlands to devon we laft at 4 in the morning and didnt hit any traffic at all, it was well worth getting up at silly o'clock for.

Re: Trailers

Thanks Rache, I think there are so many posh trailers at my yard that it makes me doubt the Rice will be good enough.
