Has anyone tried this? I have a very nervy/anxious youngster and would like something to help him "cope" but not sedate him

I've fed it for two winters to my stressy TB mare and seemed to 'take the edge off' her. Can't currently get it down her though as the grass is too good! :biggrin:

i've been using it for 6 months as rigcalm wasn't working, seems to have had a good effect but with my 16.1tb i had 2 add an extra 50% to the daily dose. ive used used the liquid valerian based ones but think this is the best

She is generally nervous, espeically when hacking out along but also in the stable or when boxed...she seems ot take strange situations very badly so i hope this will help her...i will keep you posted on progress!

Dolly has been fed this now for five days and I can already see a difference in her! Usually when we hack out she is really jumpy for the first half an hour, and by jumpy i mean a spooky, shying, reactive mess! But she has been going out very calmly - having a healthy interest in things, but no where near as reactive and certianly not as spooky!

I tried this on my daughter's fizzy pony but it didn't seem to do much. Have now tried a product called Nupafeed which has worked wonders! He has gone from leaping around all over the place at a competition to jumping 10 clear rounds in a row. On a more practical note, when we gave NAF magic, he wasn't having any hard feed so we'd grate some carrots to mix it with which he would eat quite happily.

You dont say what he eats the rest of the time. I had a nervous horse and tried all manner of calming supplements, spending a samll fortune in the process. However, i then tried Allen & Paige feed without molasses and he was a different boy. Lots of horses are molasses and barley intolerant, and we never even know.



Does your youngster have loose poop at all? Check that you are not feeding him soemthing a bit rich coz their tummy's aren't mature until about six years old and coming into work as a youngster can be a shock to the system.



I would try Ride & Relax or Calm & Condition if he needs a bit more topline - my TBx looked very well on it and kept calm as ever. Not only is it better than curing a problem you might be creating with food but it is cheaper than supplements!! I notices the difference after about a week on the feed.
