for those people who havent already please tag your bridle and saddle, just incase the worst happens when your out riding and you come off, at least if someone catches your horse they will know who to contact or where to take your horse back to & raise the alarm. (it is important to tag saddle and bridle just in case you come off along with the bridle still in your hands or girth snaps etc)

i see so many riders out and about but hardley any of them have tags on, please folks they are just as important as wearing fluresent gear on the roads!.

and if youre laid in a ditch somewhere it may just save your life!........ they are not expensive...just use the dog tags with the engraving on. heres a few links off ebay. x

you can make your own but remember they need to be waterproof.

i  attatch them to the d rings on the saddle and also thread them through the buckles on the cheek pieces. x

depends how big they are hun, you dnt want something massive dangling frm your bridle, have a look at the links i ve put on , i use the silver dog tags for the bridle an maybe something a little bigger like in the 2nd link would be fine on the saddle.

info i use ...you can't put on loads if its engraved on a disc as your limited, on the front i have the name of the horse and on the reverse i have stables address & tel number and also a tel number for me too.

hope that helps, just a precaution but better safe than sorry x

when putting contact numbers on there, avoid putting your own mobile number because if you're in an accident and they have you and your horse but you're out for the count, they want to ring someone to help and your mobile will ring - they have you already they don't need to ring you! my tags have my dad's mobile number (because he's more likely to have his phone on him than mother!) and the house phone number.

i have got red stars - i only have one on his saddle at the mo but i do have one for his bridle aswell - i just don't use it because it doesn't fit on his bridle very well and gets in his eye.

Yes…my horse really is called “The Brown Horse”

it is usefull to add your OWN contact details incase you come off (as well as the yard number/emergency contact) and are not injured but the horse runs off at least you can retrieve your horse. PLUS if you are injured and NO ONE can find you the police / emergency services can ring your mobile number to locate your position which is based on repeater triangulation, the system tracks mobile phones using GPS and GSM technology!.

each person will be differant as to what details they add. its better to put as many numbers as you can on incase some one doesnt answer.x

This company is brilliant.......... it never ceases to amaze me how much information they fit onto the tag......... they will engrave both sides and the price is fairly reasonable too.

I scouted them out because I am pretty neurotic with my dog tags........ they have to have.......

My name, my adress, my postcode, I am neutered & microchipped, my phone number, my mobile, my vets name & number lol

.............. and this is the only company I have found so far that manages to fit it all on without the tag becoming humungous as I have a fairly long address.

ETA The link cause I am having a majorly blonde moment ;)   http://www.identitaguk.com/

Myself and Debs (RugbyandArabs) have dog tags which have been ingraved with our home numbers and mobile numbers where we ride on Longleat estate we also have a big Longleat pass this has our yard address on it. We only have them on our D-rings on the saddle only as this is always on the horse where bridles can come off plus if you have bridles like what we have there is no where to put them plus some horses ont like things hanging and flapping around there faces.

Ive had my Tags now for the past 20yrs my latest one (which i got done last Oct) cost me a pound and i got it done at my local shoemenders who also do key cutting.

We have found that the engraved ones last a lot longer and are cheeper as well as dont fad.

Boyfriends come and go but my Arabs are for life
