You're so right, for some reason girls seem to do this sort of thing. You'll notice they have to gang up to do it though.
We didn't have computers or mobile phones when I was young. They used to wait for me and follow me to school, pushing and slapping me. It went on for ages and ages I don't think I was even 10 when it started and these girls were nearly at high school!!! Pathetic really. I
I lost it one day and thumped and kicked the pair of them, they were so shocked they never did it again, It happened in front of a teacher too so I think they got a proper bollocking.
Then a boy decided to take up the challenge he's still apparently an err errm 'twit' shall we say, he used to hit and kick me and take my stuff. One day I chased him all the way to school and pinned him up against the wall and yup gave him a good pasteing too.
Someone elses dad had been teaching him how to punch. as in proper boxing punches and he decided to try them out on me!! nearly knocked me out. I nearly did him a serious injury, banged his head off the coat pegs.
I guess Id got used to being a target (funny name and apparently I spoke posh, oooh and I liked horses!!!!) and just reacted! I got told off for that one, till one of the other boys went and told the head what had happened.
Thing is you get these sorts of people at all age groups, my boss is one and another girl in the department. Its bloody awful to deal with, but I guess Im trying to say you aren't alone and even at my age (40) you still get sad, pathetic, envious, green eyed, arses who need to bully others in a sad and pathetic effort to make them selves feel better. At the end of the day it is them that have the problem not us well adjusted confident individuals 
who they are trying to drag down to their level.
And that is my personnel opinion based on a fair amount of experience so there
