Hacking in a dressage saddle

Hi

Does anyone hack in a dressage saddle. What are your experiences please? Does it make you feel more secure to hack in a dressage saddle?

Many thanks

Re: Hacking in a dressage saddle

I have hacked several horses, even jumped lol (not really advisable much over 1ft)  in a dressage saddle, hacking is absolutely fine, obviously if youre not used to riding in one it can take a wee while for you to adapt but once your happy schooling in it then hackings no problem, as natalie said the deeper seat can make you feel more secure and it encourages you to sit up nice and tall so if your horse spooks or whatever you are in a good position to deal with it, my dressage saddle is an easi-sit with a memory foam seat and its the only one iv had trouble hacking with as my horse gets quite excited and prances when hes out and the seat was really springy so at some points when we were trotting i felt like i could be catapaulted lol but even that was ok once you got used to it!

Re: Hacking in a dressage saddle

The mare I used to share had a dressage saddle. At first I found it really uncomfortable to hack with but got used to it after a while and it does have a nice deep seat. I did find it uncomfortable on longer hacks though.

Re: Hacking in a dressage saddle

My partner hacks out in his Dressage saddle well its a treeless Dressage (Solution) and he loves it.

I used to hack and do Endurance rides in my Dressage saddle but we are now going back 12/13yrs as ive been treeless since the late 90s but to me it felt no diffrent it had a deeper seat but my legs were in the same position and my stirups were the same length. I must admit my treeless saddle is a lot deeper seatted, i feel more secure, its more comfterbale and most of all its a lot more comfey for my horse as well he moves more naturaly

Boyfriends come and go but my Arabs are for life
