hya i wrote saying about saddle fitting alot helpfull people thankyou, what is a treless saddle?? im going to start breaking my mare this summer are they good as 1st saddles?? i always had GP saddles on my old horses< confused[8)] xx

Check out this website for everything you need to know. http://www.gotreeless.com/Gotreeless.com/home.html They are ideal for youngsters as one size fits all due to the absense of a rigid tree so no need to replace when she outgrows. The downside can be unless you buy a mega bucks 'Ansur' they are rather unconventional looking ( I don't mind this) and do take a bit of getting used to. They are like riding bareback but with the security of a saddle and you feel the horses movement much more and they are able to use their back and shoulders much more freely than with a treed saddle. I know a few people at my yard that use treeless saddles Ansure, Heather Moffat and Barefoot, Barefoot seems to be the cheapest and all the owners love them for different reasons, there is also one called Trekker which looks like the barefoot but cheaper the lady has a fat pony on lone so didnt want to spend a fortune on a saddle she is also very happy with it.Hope this helps [:)][:)]

If you are going to go treeless then I would strongly advise that you "try before you buy". They can be very expensive and may not suit all. I tried a Heather Moffett "Phoenix" last year - it was a very comfy saddle for me and was beautifully made but it just didn't suit my horse - I experienced a lot of "movement" and when I lunged in it and AJ did his usual "wall of death" it finished up around his ears! I finished up having a Farrington WH saddle custom made for him at a cost of £750 which was a lot cheaper than the treeless and fits both him and me!

i think treeless saddles are good but it depends what you want
