oh took some pics of me n Fire jumpin the other day thought i'd put a few up. First time we'd jumped 2ft 6" in 8 months. (I know most people prob conside that small but I'm very cowardly when it comes to jumps) (yellow-belly-itis very serious condition [:p]). advice/comments welcome. I'm desperate to have a few riding lessons but gotta wait till the weather picks up. My Nan keeps tellin me I am. I might just be noticing it more cos i have my feet out the stirrups in this one...dunno!

you are such a skelve that you will be fine even if you are a wee bit tall. skinny moo! when you are jumping try to allow a wee touch ore with the hand and have the lower leg a bit more controlled the toe to the front and the heel down with the calf wrapped round the horse a bit more! other than that very nice!

Ah, those jumps are more like my height of jumps!! I noticed you didnt have a groundline in most of those jumps - try to build the fences with a pole resting on the ground at the base of the jump if its a spread or upright, if it has a filler touching the ground it'll be ok and if its a crosspole, the ends resting on the ground are the groundline for that. It just makes the jump easier for the pony to judge what height it is and where to take off. [:)]

Lovely pictures - your horse is georgeous- your jumps too- are they polly jumps? just asking as they are so colourful. i love the last pic especially. Totally lost confidence in jumping myself after dislocating shoulder last summer- always bounced back before but haven't so far as yet -so you are encouring me !

its not the height of the jumps, its the technique, and yours is fine, the pony looks so honest and careful, he has a really kind face. the white blocks with the red and blue poles- isnt that 2'9? i thought a pole on top was 3', and that bit was 2'9? looks really, really good, and if your enjoying jumping at that height keep at it, i prefer jumping that height to bigger fences, its less worrying! x

yep there polyjumps. been buildin up a lil collection for bout 7 years now. unfortunatley they fade a bit, the ones in the last jumpin pic used to red! Thanks for all the advice, Im gonna try and put it all to use. especially about smiling lol, My friends reckon im so dippy all the time cos all my concertration skills are used up jumping! Yeah fire is pretty honest and kind, never laid his ears back, kicked or bit anyone ever. He is excellent with strides and if were jumpin bigger jumps he'll get onto his hocks and does a BIG canter. doesn't like really scary fillers much though...and he has a really dirty run out! its like he can move backwards and sideways all at the same time. He doesn't do it often but 9/10 i fall off if he does [:p] hence the loss of confidence. I used to ride with the method or "go like hell and hopefully he'll jump it". Now im trying steady with balence and good rythem. which seems to be working better [:)]

Lovely pony and no you are not too big for him. Jeannie is 16.2hh and i am a short ass so also ride ponies and used to love jumping a little 13.2hh rocket at riding school. You can see how nervous you are but you do a great job as does he. I think lessons would really help your confidence -did you have a fall? When i nervous approaching a jump I try to count down outloud to the jump and if I hear my voice going higher then i know how nervous i am and it helps me focus when counting down to jump plus if have another jump to focus on rather than just a single jump then I dont tense up so much. Dont overface yourself or him. Have you tied relaxation exercises before jump? Alot of showjumpers rec them!
