Retirement homes

Hey everyone. I was just wondering what people think about horsey retirement homes? I prefer to look after my old boy myself, but I just wonder what I would do if something came up so that I couldn't. Does anyone have any experience of them? I'm a bit of a perfectionist as far as he's concerned and think I would spend all day worrying about him no matter how reputable they were. I also wonder if there are some more interested in money than horse welfare? Would be interested to know what you think![8D]

RedGate Animal Sanctuary is FAB! my horse has gone there, and is living the rest of his day like he is already in heaven! They get brushed, and taken up the lane for a walk everyday! and only day that it is closed is on christmas day, so you can see him whenever you like[;)] They have loads of different animals... Cat, Dogs, Sheep, Cows, Pigs,Horses,Ducks,Chickens and Goats![:D] I would rather of looked after bobby to, but i only loaned him [:(] B xx

Re: Retirement homes

id prefer to look after mine myself as you hear such horror stories about some of these retirement homes when he horses get sold on again to be ridden. i couldnt do that to my boys. theyve given me so muh and when theyre time is up theyll be kept as large, rather expensive pets.
