So Happy I'm a Rider Again!!

Hope everyone had a good easter, mine was fantastic, firstly I got back on my horse after he has been injured since July 2007 (not ridden since June 2007 due to all the floods that month) so was so happy it went well, no bucking, just a little skipping and a little excited, kept a light seat and all was great, (lunged first to see what he would do!!) even managed a little tiny trot.  So happy as this time last year the vet thought he would never be ridden again, but he recovered better than expected.  He will only ever be a happy hacker now but I am so excited I can get back on and I was beaming all afternoon afterwards.  Just forgot how tall he was when on top, could see over the hedges again!!!!

Also I have now got my own field and stables to rent so we move next month, I am allowed to put a field shelter in the field as there are no hedges or trees around, small downside is there are no horses on the yard but there are a few just down the road so he can see and hear some others across the fields and its so much closer to my house and work I can even cycle there if I want!

So with added chocolate eggs, I had a great easter!  Just had to share all my good news, still buzzing from riding again, missed it so much and so happy the horse was good and not sore today!

That's fantastic news, really glad your back on top and there was no misbehavin! I remember my 1st ride after 2 months when Coco had strained his tendon so after a year and half I can only imagine how excited you were! Maybe you could advertise and get someone to share the yard/field with you to give your horse a friend? Good luck with the move though and enjoy all the riding!!

That's really great, well done! And congrats for being so patient, too. I kind of know how you feel, but not as much, coz I didn't do any riding for about nearly 2 months over christmas and everyone else just wanted to do shopping and I was champing at the bit to go riding!! Especially as it was KEY that I had a lesson soon coz I'd moved on so far in the last one and I was DESPERATE to carry on from where I left off!!

Have happy hacking!

Re: So Happy I'm a Rider Again!!

thanks guys for your lovely messages, yes I was soo happy and excited to be getting back on but also nervous he would be very naughty as it had been so long, but apart form the odd skip he was as good as gold and he was only very slightly stiff the next day so the future is looking good.

I haven't had a lesson in ages think I will stick to the happy hacking!! just hope it carries on being happy hacking!

I might advertise for a field sharer but after we have moved and see what he is like first.  Or I might just get myself another on loan, will have to see, I miss my jumping and know Tudor can never jump again, will see whats what after I move.
