I think it's unfair to say working with horses would waste your intelligence.  Have you looked at the courses run by the different equine colleges?  I still believe that until you're in the workplace you don't know half the jobs that are out there.  You could start off on a general horsemanship course (sorry I don't know what there are as I don't work in the equine field) then specialise once you get a feel for what you would like to do.

I don't think that being a trainer or equine physio or dentist could be classed as wasting your intelligence.  Good luck

If you want to work with horses, it's your choice. But being an equine vet (if you would want to) is a good idea because you will be working with horses and it's a challenging job that will pay quite a lot =]. I have to chose my GCSE subjects this year (yes, I'm 12, they changed the age =S). You could ask at the stable where you keep your horse if anyone has any advice. Sorry I'm not much help! x

A B'Tech in horse management at a college would be the first step for you. It is equivalent to 3 A levels. After that you could move on to an equine degree.

What about the health side like equine dentistry, nutrition, chiropractor, working for a magazine or saddle fitter. Just a few things to think about,

Does your head of year know anything about horses? I would guess not, and if this is the case then HER intelligence is wasted! Follow your passion. Good Luck x

I think a career is horses is well worth your intelligence! I have been through the whole "doing something to please someone else" and basically i wasted 4 years of my life!! Now im back at college redoing everything and then off to uni for what I want to do. So don't ever let someone tell you what to do, youll only end up miserable and have wasted time. Follow your dream!

Follow your passion. You could be a number of things in the horse world ranging from a vet to a physio to a nutritionist....and so on
