well if this is dried depending weather da suger beat is the 24hour soak then you ave to do or you wood risk dire conciqences as the unsoakeds flakes will expand in the stomach causing savire colic threatning the life if too much as bien cuncumed surgury bieng the only option, as it as to be soaked and turnt into a pulp thn water safly disposed of if not all soaked then one scoop for every feed depending on the size/work of your horse/pony or there is a 10min soak flakes if pushed for time same rules hope dis helps you.x

you must ALWAYS soak sugar beet for at least 24 hours. Unless its the speedi-beet, which isnt as long, but STILL NEEDS SOAKING. Never ever feed a horse unsoaked beet, as it expands in their stomache an prettu much kills them.

I think they meant WHOLE sugar beets, as in raw! In which case of cause it is! We feed ours them straight out of the field.

You must always soak sugar beet, never ever take the chance.  It's not just the expanding in the stomach you have to worry about, sometimes it expands in the throat and they choke.  I saw this happen once and the treatment to get it out again was horrific, it involved a tube being inserted and lots of water used to flush it out, the poor horse was totally distressed.

How did everyone below assume 'whole' sugar beet as dried flakes :S

But yeah, the actualy vegetable's fine to feed, although whole isn't advisory as it can cause choke in large lumps - much better to cut it up into little pieces, but you can feed whole if wanted.
