Girth Problems, please help!

My horse tries to bite me every time I do the girth up, I used to be able to do it fine, but now I have to do it up one hole at a time, any idea what this could be?

Thanks

Could it be that you did thr girth up too quickly in the past? Some horses are very sensitiv to this. I think you have to be very patient and take it very slow really do the girth up one hole at the time.it may take a bit till he relaxes again. Just be patient.

Slowly fasten up equally from both sides one hole at a time, as many horses I know will bite you if done too quickly, dont tighten until mounting. So best of luck!

read my post below 'Listen to your horse'!! There might be something wrong that your horse is trying to tell you about.

If he was previously fine, but now started to get nippy - might be worth getting your saddle looked at...or even the physio!

Another thing it could be is an uncomfortable stomach, or maybe ulcers.........

Thanks very much everyone

This really helps, I always used to do it up very quickly in the past so It sounds like it could be that he is sensitive, but I will also get a physio out thanks :)

Try Coligone horse supplement.

I tried it on my horse to settle his stomach and he was a different horse to tack up. It settles thier gut and should really help your horse and his girth. Its avaliable in a paste or in powder. Its fab and really worth a try xox
