Can you do schooling stuff with him while out hacking - lots of transitions, leg yielding, shoulder in, that kind of thing?

school while your out, most things we do in the school can be done out on a hack. I'd work him in a really fun forward way out on the hack and slip little bits of schooling in.

Use the trees as bending poles also it makes your riding better as it hurts when you hit an oak tree. Also I got my Cob to go up and down steps which frightens the hell out of people, then learn to open and shut gates from horseback sometimes your horse helps you as well. Hacking will improve your riding and make your horse enjoy the outing and be more responsive. The problems you come across could be crossing streams and bridges, also the horse could be enjoying so much as they buck in pure joy of life, also getting your horse fit is worth it, as Tonka I was still riding at 29 and now Lara getting into condition as she at the moment is not capable of doing the work the same asTonka. Everything with a horse is 3 steps forward 2 or even 4 back frustrating at times but all worth it in the end, steady work dont keep at the same thing as a horse will get as bored as you, make friends and bond as you are a team, this is the difficult part as when you loose one partner getting on with another difficult as with Lara.
